I talk a lot about how to be productive as a working mom and how to make life easier during the week. But there are many moms out there who are over the 9 to 5 and want to make money from home.
Am I speaking to anyone?
There are many companies out there now that are allowing more flexibility in where and when their employees work which is amazing. But what if your job is not offering that flexibility? What if you are tired of all the commuting, the early mornings and late evenings?
There are a few ways you can make money at home and not just as a side hustle. But make a real full-time income. I have tried a few and here are my

You might be thinking, there is no way you can start a real successful business from home but I am proof that you can and here is how.
Blogging
I am currently blogging and while it is hard in the beginning you can make money with a blog if you put the right steps in place. If you love to write blogging might be for you. But blogging isn’t just about writing you have to put your content out there and be seen. And you monetize your blog with your own products, advertising, and affiliate marketing.
If you are interested in blogging I highly suggest you start it off right by creating a self-hosted website. This means you own the URL and have it hosted with a site like Siteground. I absolutely love SiteGround for the ease of use and the amazing customer service. And it is relatively cheap to get started, with packages starting for as low as $3.95 per month.
Invest in your blog with quality training. When I first purchased my website, I immediately looked into training that could help me build a stunning WordPress site. I stumbled upon Blog By The Number. This course is amazing! Suzi breaks it down step by step with videos! This course is perfect for someone who is comfortable with technology but has never worked with WordPress. Suzi’s course makes sure you understand each portion of your website and you can set it up in a weekend!
Two ebooks that have significantly contributed to my website traffic are Pinterest Ninja and The She Approach to Boosting Your Blog Traffic.
Meghan’s ebook Pinterest Ninja goes into detail on properly setting up a Pinterest Business account and how to leverage Pinterest to drive traffic to your website. And there is a private Facebook group where Meghan offers helpful tips and personally answers your Pinterest questions.
I love the She Approach because Ana goes into great detail the steps he took to increase her blog traffic and provides additional, helpful tips every Tuesday to her email subscribers.
Dropshipping
I have been a dropshipper for almost 4 years. It is a great way to earn up to $1,000 per month. You might be wondering what Dropshipping is. You don’t hear about it too much. As a dropshipper, you set up a website and sell other company’s products without actually having the product on hand. There are many manufacturers don’t actually sell their products, instead, they allow other websites to advertise their products and when a sale is made on your site you contact the manufacturer with the information and they package and ship it for you. It is so easy to do and you don’t have to do any of the physical labor involved with a sale.
When I first heard about dropshipping I learned of a course called the Dropship Lifestyle. It is an amazing course and well worth the cost.
Anton goes into incredible detail on how to find your niche, determine the product, your ideal customer, how to find manufacturers to work with, setting up your website on Shopify and so much more. And the additional resources you receive are top-notch. I honestly cannot recommend this course enough. If you think this might be a good way for you to work from home, invest in Dropship Lifestyle.
Affiliate Marketing
A lot of bloggers make money with affiliate marketing. That is how I currently monetize my blog. And I love it because I can market products or services I know and love and get a small commission on the sale.
But you don’t need a blog to bring in affiliate marketing income. Many affiliate marketers are turning to social media and email lists to advertise their affiliate products and are seeing great success.
Two great courses I love are Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing and Paid by Pinterest. Both courses help to get you started with affiliate marketing but with different methods. Michelle shows you how she built and monetized a blog with affiliate marketing. This is by far the most comprehensive course I have come across. If you are serious about using affiliate marketing to monetize your blog this is the course for you.
And Elise from House of Brazen teaches you in Paid by Pinterest how to market via Pinterest without having a blog or website. Using Pinterest and not a blog or website to attract the right person to your products was new to me, in fact, I didn’t know it was a thing until I stumbled upon Paid by Pinterest. Elise gives you great tips for making your first sale in 24 hours. And guess what, it really works!
Virtual Assistant
I have been working as a Virtual Assistant for 2 years now and love it. I still have some human interaction but love staying organized and helping my clients build their businesses. Not sure what services you can provide as a VA? Download my checklist 40 VA Services You Can Provide Today.
As a virtual assistant, you can work from anywhere in the world and provide basic services to help other entrepreneurs run their business. As more businesses move to the online space, virtual assistants become more in demand. And it is very low cost to start. But if you are interested in a course I suggest Gina Horkey’s 30 Days or Less to Virtual Assistant Success.
I would not have started as a Virtual Assistant if it were not for her easy to follow course.

I started my blog a couple years ago and stumbled into virtual assisting shortly after that. I love how both those jobs complement each other so well! It’s a great way for creative people to earn money from home doing something they love to do.
Yes Emily, I totally agree that they complement each other. All of my VA clients are bloggers that I have met through blogging. I can use my blogging skills with the work I do for them.
These are really great and easy ideas. I’m going to check out the virtual assistant one for sure.
Virtual assistant is probably my favorite work from home business. Especially when you find clients you really love working with.
These are great ideas! I’m a freelance graphic designer, so those skills allow me to make some supplemental income. I’ve been looking at other ways to make some money on the side, and I’m fascinated by dropshipping! Interesting how all that works!
Corey drop shipping is easy to get into. I highly encourage you to check out Anton’s free training. https://www.dropshiplifestyle.com/webinar/
I’ve done all four of these and I’m currently a full time blogger/virtual assistant! I love blogging but I really love the stable income that being a virtual assistant brings.
So awesome to hear that you have found one you love Brittany. Being a VA is probably the most rewarding of them all and I would agree it is also the most stable!
